We will bring the same food philosophy to The Canteen on Portland that has successfully guided our current business - honest, unpretentious food, made with love.
Our menu will be influenced by classic French, Italian and traditional Nova Scotian cuisine - with a little bit of Renée's magic thrown in. We plan to offer simple and approachable menus that are sure to please every palate - including kids !
We're also excited be offering a rotating list of local wines and craft beers that we love so much.
All of the meat, eggs and fish served at The Canteen are carefully sourced from local growers across Nova Scotia. We strive to serve top quality meats that have been raised humanely and sustainably.
Ciabatta, challah, pita, rye, bagels and more. All of our bread is baked in house on a daily basis to suit our changing line-up of sandwiches. After all, what's a sandwich without the bread?
An awesome sandwich is about a lot more than just bread and meat. That's why we bring in the best local cheeses and seasonal produce in addition to making all of our own sauces, pickles and slaws from scratch.
